GibbsCAM
2.5D Solids provides powerful CNC programming capability to
Production Machining users who are manufacturing 2.5D parts. What
is a 2.5D Solid Model/Part?
A 2.5D solid is a solid that can be cut with a series
of 2D toolpaths at different Z levels.
As the mechanical design industry is moving more and
more to solids-based CAD solutions, they are providing these solid
design models to their manufacturers. Gibbs and Associates
New 2.5D Solids is the right answer for manufacturers who are designing
in solids model-based CAD applications or who are receiving solid
CAD parts from their customers.
GibbsCAMs 2.5D Solids production ready
capability handles programming parts with 2.5D solids geometry. Starting with
the Profiler, a robust interactive feature-based selection tool,
and expanded face selection capabilities to recognize aspects of
2.5D geometry with powerful feature-based selection tools. GibbsCAM's
ease-of-use has been enhanced to efficiently interact with 2.5D
parts.
The GibbsCAM 2.5D Solids Module is available for Milling,
Milling & Turning (Mill/Turn) and as an add-on module to existing
GibbsCAM software seats. GibbsCAM 2.5D Solids is cost effective
and priced well below full 3D solids-based systems.
A 2.5D solid model allows the different Z slices to
be different 2D shapes but all slices most be 2D shapes.
A
powerful automatic feature recognition capability has been incorporated
into GibbsCAM and integrated with the Hole Wizard, streamlining
the specification and generation of hole-making processes. Powerful
tools are also provided to allow users to repair imported CAD geometry.
The new option also introduces advanced 2.5D milling, turning, mill/turn,
and multi-task machining functionality, such as the ability to interactively
machine solids directly.
