  Desktop Rapid Prototyping Machines

The MDX-15 and the MDX-20 put you in control with the power of 3D scanning and milling right on your desktop. The Roland Active Piezo Sensor (RAPS) transforms the machine into a very accurate 3D scanner for 3D objects. It creates 3D data compatible with many popular 3D CAD software systems. The milling spindle unit turns the MDX-15 & 20 into a full-featured CNC (computer numerical control) mill capable of cutting jeweler's wax, resins, chemical wood, acrylic, and even light metals such as brass and aluminum.

Roland’s Subtractive Rapid Prototyping mills your prototypes the same way you will machine your products. The MDX-15 or MDX-20 will save you time and money by testing and modifying your virtual 3D designs.

This is a scan from a small jewelry piece.

It was scanned at .0002" resolution.

  •  Roland Active Piezo Sensor scanning technology
  •  Subtractive Rapid Prototyping technology
  •  Bundled Modela CAM & Dr PICZA software
  •  Powerful CNC mill handles light metals, including

            aluminum and brass

  •  Maximum scanning resolution: 0.002 inches
  •  MDX-15 Maximum work area:

                6 inches (X) x 4” (Y) x 2  3/8” (Z)

  •  MDX-20 Maximum work area:

                8 inches (X) x 6” (Y) x 2  3/8” (Z)

The Modela CAM software allows you to design in a variety of popular 3D CAD and computer graphics software programs, including SolidWorks, Rhinoceros, VectorWorks, LightWave and 3D studio max.

Ideal for a variety of product design tasks, including reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, jewelry and model making, and small lot production. Just plug the MDX-15 or 20 in to your computer as you would a desktop printer. Follow the simple instructions and be scanning or milling in minutes.
